My Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies

So I'm going start off by blaming my in-laws for my chocolate chip cookie obsession. Wyatt's family makes the yummiest treats! I've always had a sweet tooth, but before I met Wyatt it was solely candy. I LOVE candy, sour candy to be exact and I had never been much of a baked goods lover until now. It's probably because I had never had such good ones before. I'm pretty sure Ruby is made up of these cookies. Wyatt's mom makes amazing cookies and after I asked her for her recipe too many times (because I would loose it) I tried making them my own which eventually led to me making up my own recipe. I get asked about these cookies every time I post them so I figured I'd post them on here for constant reference. I feel like my recipe is pretty basic but I do a few extra things that make them fluffy and thick (which is the way I like them).

Recipe:
2 sticks of salted butter
-Make sure the butter isn't totally melted, sometimes I microwave mine when I'm in a crunch. But most of the time I let the butter sit out for a few hours. But I'd error on the side of more melted butter, rather than not soft/melted enough.
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
-I really really pack the brown sugar ;)
2 teaspoon vanilla
2 egg
3 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup chocolate chips
-I always use Ghirardelli chips, I used to not notice a difference but there definitely is.

TIP**
One thing that took me awhile to figure out was cook time and temperature. Depending on your oven you might want to turn the temperature a little lower and let the cookies cook for a minute or two longer. We have a really small oven so it's best from me to cook my cookies at 335 for 10 mins rather than 350 for 8 mins. But I would do anywhere between 330-350 for 8-12 mins!
