Our First Family Vacation

We had so much fun this past week being around all of our friends and family. After this trip we feel like we're champions of west coast flying. We flew from Utah to Washington, Washington to California, and California to Utah this past week. The Friday before Thanksgiving we headed up to Salt Lake for Wyatt's brother's wedding then headed to Washington Sunday morning to spend Thanksgiving week with my family. While we were up north we visited VooDoo donuts, downtown Seattle, UW, and the Olympic national park. We ate clam chowder, fish and chips, visited the first Starbucks (we're not coffee drinkers but still pretty cool), and took lots of pictures. It rained like crazy the entire time we were there so it was like Wyatt and Emmett got the "real" pacific northwest experience, haha! But it was gorgeous, Emmett did most of his napping in the car which is totally off his normal schedule but ended up working out really nice. He also did his first back-to-tummy roll while we were up there so that was fun. Now the kid won't stay on his back. He loves being on his tummy, but will start to get really mad once he realizes he can't crawl. He can scoot a little here and there, but he basically does a full 360 circle instead of actually moving forward, and it's hilarious to watch but frustrating to him. Emmett loved the rain in Washington, we went to a lake out there and it was just pouring and he was laughing the whole time! I was surprised at how non-stressful traveling was. I was expecting the worst, so maybe that made it better. I mean as far as traveling with an infant, we definitely had those "rookie moments," like... "oh we can carry Emmett in the carrier the entire time EVEN through security check-in?!" After we figured that out, he pretty much stayed in the carrier the entire time. The only real downside was that I've been sick for the past week, but overall it went pretty smooth. I made a little video of the trip too, so you can check it out if you'd like :)

Holiday Gift Series: For Her

I love the holiday's, but when it comes to shopping I get stressed out! I am such a last minute shopper and it gets me so anxious. I heard a statistic on the radio the other day and they said that 75% of people have most of their Christmas shopping done by Halloween! That's amazing. But I'm trying to be different this year and get all of my shopping done by the week before christmas (huge goal, I know) haha! So, I've decided to do a 5 week series on gifts for this holiday season. All of the gift idea's I'll post will be under $100. I'm doing the ladies this week, and I've separated them into categories that I thought would work good for mom's, family, and friends etc. But you can really give all of these items to anyone :) Just thought it might help if you have a particular person you're having trouble finding a gift for! I hope you enjoy!

Rugs and Onesies

I'm always posting on this rug on my snapchat (@kristinapadgett) and instagram (@kristina.camille) stories. We don't currently have a "nursery" for Emmett because we are moving in about a month. So we just move this rug all around. We always have him doing tummy time on it because the dyes are all natural, eco and contain no VOCs like most carpeting and rugs. I also love how Lorena Canals rugs and cushions are all machine-washable and fit into a standard washer and dryer. Emmett will almost always have a little spit up on it so it's nice to know I don't ever have to take it into a dry cleaner. As far as what Emmett's wearing it's a Finn + Emma onesie, and I'm obsessed. Like how cute is that matching beanie!? Finn + Emma is made with buttery soft, G.O.T.S. certified organic cotton and non-toxic, eco-friendly dyes. The snaps are lead/ nickel free and feature real coconut inserts. Their clothing has a generous fit- allowing them to be worn from longer- and accommodating for disposable diapers. That is huge for us because most of Emmett's clothes are too short, which causes us to change out sizes bi-weekly. This is one of the only brands where I feel the fit is actually true to size. Also, their wood toys are made from untreated Indian hardwood, finishes with vegetable seed wax, and filled with little beans. I love both of these brands so check them out and let me know what you think! :)

Black Jeans and Sunnies

I love high waisted jeans right now. It was something I couldn't wait to wear after pregnancy. I'm also pretty obsessed with cat eye sunglasses. I've been growing a little collection since the summer, I mean even with pregnancy at least I could still fit in sunglasses! I love these pictures because they are CHEAP! I have the worst luck with sunglasses so it's really hard for me to consider investing in an expensive pair. But I got these from amazon and they have a million other colors, I linked the exact pair below. I hope you all have a great day :)

3 Months

Eating: Emmett is still eating well. He eats about 6-8 times a day, with 0 nighttime feedings.  He usually eats up to 10-13 oz right before bed. This past month I've stopped pumping because I just got tired of doing the dishes for it. I know that sounds lame but that's the truth! Haha! But we have officially gone through all of my freezer milk... So I may or may not bring back the pump.

Sleep: Emmett is now sleep trained, so he sleeps 10-11 hours through the night. That has been life changing for our family, no exaggeration. I hate to say sleep training him was "easy" because the first night was terrible. It took me almost 5 hours to finally get him to sleep, I even cried because I felt totally overwhelmed and like I was being a "bad mom" for kicking him out of our room. But it only took Emmett that 1 night, and he was able to self soothe and put himself to sleep. Right now Emmett sleeps from 9:30PM until about 8ish AM. We're trying to get him to go down just a little bit earlier, so wish us luck! I know that all babies are different and everyone has a different lifestyle. If you have a system that keeps everyone happy and rested, that's awesome! Whatever it is, keep it up! :) But for those of you that had specific questions on how I sleep trained Emmett just email me at, I would love to share what worked for us.
But honestly, the biggest thing was being consistent :)

Likes: Talking, SLEEPING, sleeping in his own room, laughing & smiling, kisses, the mirror, the vacuum, tummy time; he can go for 30 mins w/o crying now, sitting next to mom and dad- he gets really excited when he can sit by himself, his play mat, being outside, his carseat, loves being held by other people, playing airplane-especially if we make the airplane noises, snuggles, books; anything with pictures really
-He does this weird thing lately... I call it "distracted eating." He's always been a "grunter" especially while eating. But now he does this thing where he will look up at me while nursing and talk w/a mouth full... It literally kills me! I start laughing and then he does too, he's already so goofy!
-He is a mommy and daddy's boy. He is always laughing with dad and waiting for dad to play with him and I get all the snuggles and loves so it's a win win.

Dislikes: Being hungry and binky. Right now there really isn't much he doesn't like.

Milestones: Scooting! It doesn't matter if it's on the tummy or back I turn my back for 2 mins and he's never where I left him. I can't believe he's this mobile without crawling. He is grabbing at things and really leaning forward. Talking talking talking. He is a man of many "baby coos" haha! Working so hard at rolling from back to tummy (that interests him more than tummy to back), a few weeks ago he started he's started copying us (it's crazy to think about how much he already notices) uh-oh ;), teething for 2 weeks now (so much drool), & sleeps straight through the night. Also, this isn't much of a milestone but... We've noticed his skin is becoming more pigmented. We were wondering if he would get some of my skin tone and now it looks like he might just be getting a little ;)

Growth: 16lbs and 8oz and 26 1/2 in long; Wearing mostly 9 months.

P.S. -When we put those sunglasses on...ALL the personality came out! LOL

I made this video mostly for me and Wyatt of Emmett's first 3 months, but you are more than welcome to check it out below :)

Winter Wedding's: Guest Attire

I'm not much of a winter person but I absolutely LOVE winter weddings. They are so timeless and romantic. But I also know how difficult it can be to find something both cute and warm to wear.  I've compiled some styles and items I feel work great for winter weddings or more formal occasions in the winter!

1. Tulle & Pleated Skirts- I love these style right now and they are prefect for more formal events. Everyone can pull them off!

2. Jacket/Coats- This is my biggest struggle, you want to stay warm without totally clashing your outfit! It's all about texture right now so try something with different details... Maybe velvet, suede, or leather. Trench coats and blazer add a more formal look. I feel like all of these choices are pretty universal.

Under $100

Under $60

3. Dresses- I typically stay awake from brighter colors at weddings, I just feel like all the attention should be on the bride. I'll do either darker or more muted colors. But unless there's a color wearing requirement I would stick to something like the dresses below.

4. Shoes- Mules and clogs are everywhere these days! There are some dresses I feel that a classic heel will always work perfect for. But there are those dresses where you can pull off a warmer shoe too, so here are some of my favorites right now :)
