1 Month Old

Emmett turned 1 month today!

We've had our sweet baby boy for a whole month :) Wyatt and I were talking the other day about how it already feels like he's been with us forever. A lot has happened this past month. We had Emmett blessed at Wyatt's home ward the 2nd Sunday after he was born and he slept through the whole thing. At his 2 week check up he had weighed 10.7 lbs and was 22 1/2 in long. Ever since my milk came in about 4 days after he was born, Emmett has been a really good sleeper and eater. He sleeps for about 4/5 hours at a time and eats anywhere between 6-8 ounces. At first it freaked me out because everything I read said he was "supposed" to be waking up every 2 hrs and eating around 1-3 ounces. I would feel engorged and try to wake him up every two hours at first but then I felt like I was over feeding him because he was still eating a ton at those feedings. So I stopped and just followed his 4 hr cycle he had going on. I was so relieved when the doctor said it's nothing to worry about and that I should let him eat and sleep how he wants because he's gaining weight and staying healthy. I guess the only downside to that is I miss him when he sleeps.

We moved from California back to Utah about 2 weeks ago, so we traveled about 10 hours with Emmett. He was great, we only stopped 2 times. Which was less than we stopped on our way to California when I was in my 3rd trimester haha! Emmett has been noticing when we smile at him and has been smiling back at us. Every time he wakes up it's with a huge smile, that's how I know he's actually waking up instead of wiggling around. He loves hymns, his arms out of his swaddles, his wubbanubs, cuddling with mom and dad, sleeping, and EATING! He's not a fan of baths or lotion. We started tummy time with him after his 2 week check up. We're just trying to enjoy ever minute of this newborn stage but to be honest we have NO idea what were doing. We just try our best and pray a lot. Every day feels like a success and we are just so grateful to have him in our lives.
